The new normal is… never normal. In times of uncertainty and volatility across the economy, it’s imperative that recruiting teams are able to adapt and manage change.
Findem’s Annual Recruiting Trends Report surveyed 100 talent leaders across the economy to gain insight into current recruiting trends, challenges, and how talent teams are responding to them. This blog post provides a high-level overview of the report with a response from Ron Storn, Chief People Officer at Booster. (Listen to the full recruiting trends webinar.)
Diversity Recruiting is Essential in 2022
It’s clear that diversity has become crucial for growth. It’s no longer enough to search for talent based on where someone went to school or their past job titles. A majority of talent teams now prioritize diversity in recruiting ahead of filling open roles, automation, and improving the candidate experience.
This shift reflects the desire for companies to hire and build teams for the future. The benefits of diversity are well documented, and Ron Storn comments on his experience with diversity:
“As a company, you gain 3 advantages by having a diverse workforce: better governance across the company, problem-solving abilities not displayed in companies without diversity, and increased creativity and profitability. We have diversity in experiences and mindsets at Booster, and that’s helping us get to where we need to go.”
Since diversity is virtually a superpower for all key performance metrics, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) also lead the top trends that professionals expect in the next few years.
Leadership sets the stage for the culture and ecosystem within any company, so it’s no surprise that companies’ top hiring priority in 2022 is to bring in more diverse leadership.
Automating the Tech Stack Is Key to Competing
Our Recruiting Trends Report found that 58% of recruiting budgets are being allocated for new technology and tools to improve the recruiting process.
Recruiters are stretched thin as they juggle a higher volume of roles to fill with the sourcing challenges and competition.
“The way to help recruiters is twofold: one is to automate the repetitive aspects of sourcing and the other is to really understand what attributes you’re looking for. If you define that upfront in the search and use tools designed to find people with those attributes, it’s going to be a lot quicker than manually scanning profiles. You’ve got to simplify to amplify.”
– Ron Storn
It’s imperative that your recruiting tech stack is simplifying, streamlining, and setting up your recruitment teams for success. Companies should invest in a complete audit of their current tech stack to assess what’s working, what’s not, and what tools they can use to automate more of the recruiting process.
Recruiting Is a Human Endeavor
The more repetitive tasks you can automate and scale, the more time your people will have to do what they do best and what makes them happy.
“Automation elevates the recruiter so they can focus on what drives a candidate, what they are looking for, and how your company fits to that. People join your company because they feel connected to your mission, they want to work with smart people, and they want to have an impact. That strategy works for both new hires and internal mobility.”
– Ron Storn
Recruiters thrive and help realize the company mission when they’re able to have great conversations with interesting people and freely coordinate with their hiring manager’s needs. A happy, satisfied recruiting team spreads that joy to candidates to provide an exceptional candidate experience.
Riding the Recruiting Rollercoaster
Just weeks after releasing the Recruiting Trends Report, a number of companies announced hiring freezes and slower growth. It would seem that instead of leveling out, there are more bumps ahead for recruiting in 2022. The race for talent remains high stakes as a company’s outlook still depends on having the right people in the right positions to keep achieving their goals.
Meeting your goals in 2022 requires a balance of technology and automation with a personal touch. Build a great team this year and it’ll carry your company forward for years to come.
